Past NumbersPlaying FL Pick 2
Playing Pick 2 is as simple as choosing two numbers between 0 and 9, but there are also a few different ways you can take part. Here is a rundown of the play types that are available:
- Straight - A prediction that the numbers you pick will be drawn in that exact order
- Box - Your two numbers can appear in any order. For example, if you select 12 and the numbers are selected in the order 21, you still win
- Straight/Box - This splits your play in two, with half the money going on a Straight and half on a Box. If you choose 34, for example, and the numbers drawn are 43, you would not win the Straight part of the wager but you would win the Box prize.
- Front Number - This is a prediction on the first number to be drawn. You only have to select one number on your playslip.
- Back Number - A wager on the second number to be selected. You have to match the correct number, for example if you choose 1 as the back number but 1 is drawn as the front number, it is a loss.
In Pick 2, you can also decide how much to pay per play - $0.50 or $1. The exception is the Straight/Box play type, which always costs a total of $1 and is split $0.50 on each.
Choose whether to play the Midday draw, the Evening draw, or both. You can play up to 14 consecutive days.
Finally, you must also decide whether to add Fireball to your Pick 2 play. This doubles the total cost, but gives you a significantly better chance of winning.
Make sure to get your entries in before sales stop - this happens at 1:17pm for the Midday draw and 9:32pm for the Evening draw.
How the Fireball Works
After every draw, a third number - the Fireball - is drawn from a separate field of 0 to 9. This can be used to replace either of the main numbers to create winning combinations. For example, if you choose the numbers 17 as a Straight play and the numbers drawn are 47, this would normally be a loss. However, if the Fireball is a 1, you can swap out the 4 and use the 1 to give you a win.
Prizes and Odds
In Pick 2, the prize you can win is determined by the play type you have selected and your wager amount. For example, if you play a $1 Straight and match both numbers correctly, you win $50. If you play a $0.50 Front Number or Back Number, all you can win is $2.50 but the odds are much better. Adding the Fireball also gives you more chances to win.
The table below shows all the different play types, the prizes you can win, odds, and the Fireball payouts.
